It is not a WellCare of Georgia mistake this time.
Effective January 1, 2016 Vibrant Kids Pediatrics will no longer accept Medicaid (including PeachCare for Kids) or any Medicaid CMO—e.g. Amerigroup, Peachstate or WellCare of Georgia. We will not accept these payers as either a primary or secondary payer. As a small business we can no longer justify the losses that seeing Medicaid members cost our business. We cannot accept these losses given the utter frustration caused by dealing with these payors’ bureaucracy and busywork that provides no value to patient care. We have been wrestling with this decision for some time, but the recent fiasco with WellCare of Georgia served only to assure us of the correctness in taking this decision. We regret the inconvenience this decision will cause affected patient families, but the cost of remaining in-network with these payors has become too prohibitive.
