Full DPC Conversion Underway

Our pilot Direct Primary Care (DPC) membership program launched in January 2021 has been a great success. As a result, we are converting to a full DPC practice with the goal of operating as such by January 1, 2024. Once fully converted we will no longer provide services using the fee-for-service (FFS) payment model accepting third-party payor “reimbursement” for payment.

Just what is Direct Primary Care?

The available number of DPC membership slots is significantly less than the size of our current FFS patient panel, so not all families who want to enroll will be able to. Enrollment is on a first-come-first-service basis, so make yourself aware of the dates as detailed below to secure your family’s membership as soon as possible.

Important Dates

April 1, 2023

Enrollment in our Direct Primary Care (DPC) membership program will re-open to all established, active patient families. (If you are not sure what we mean by established and active, please see this explainer here).

Delay your start date.

We are allowing you to delay your membership start date up to January 1, 2024. This reserves your DPC slot, but allows you to use your third-party payor “benefits” for this year until you are allowed to adjust your policy for next year.

Your membership starts on the date you select. If you want a future start date, then you must enter that date yourself. Existing patients will not have your start date “automatically” adjusted to 1/1/24. We have no information regarding your current “insurance” policy—as we are not a party to this contract between you and your payor—therefore we cannot “automatically” adjust your start date to the termination/renewal date of your policy.

Again, if you want a future start date, then you must enter that date yourself. Any membership fees collected as a result of your failure to select the desired start date will not be refunded, but will be credited to your account for use when your membership does start.

October 1, 2023

Open enrollment for the entire community will re-open beginning with our wait list. The launch of our DPC pilot program in January 2022 saw the majority of those initial membership slots go to new patient families, and our current wait list of new patient families will consume over half of our remaining membership slots. We want our existing patient families to have first dibs, and we know many existing families have been “waiting on the fence” to enroll until they “have to’’—the time for “have to” has arrived.

January 1, 2024 (or when all DPC membership slots are filled)

Our target date to be a full DPC practice. However, we will operate as a full DPC practice when the total allotment of DPC membership slots are filled, and we do anticipate this occurring before January 1st. Once operating as full DPC, we will no longer schedule non-DPC FFS patient appointments. However, we will honor all existing FFS appointments on the schedule, e.g. annual wellness exams scheduled from 2022.

Space is limited.

The total number of DPC membership slots is 30% of the size of our FFS patient panel. Our initial allotment in 2022 filled in less than 6 months. Once enrollment opens to our wait list, spots will go quickly.
